This is a professional qualification awarded by CFA Institute, Virginia USA. First awarded in 1963, the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter is known as the gold standard of professional credentials within the global investment community. | CFA |

It takes 2.5 to 3 years depending on when you start. There are three Levels;

Level 1 can be attempted either in June or in December every year. Level 2 and level 3 can be attempted only in June. In June, exam is conducted at Karachi and Lahore whereas in December, exam is conducted only in Karachi.

A brief introduction to level of knowledge tested at each level is as under:

Level 1

• Tools and concepts that apply to investment valuation and portfolio management
• Basic concepts regarding securities and markets
• CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct

Level 2

• Asset valuation
• Application of tools and concepts of investment valuation
• Industry and company analysis
• CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct

Level 3

• Management of institutional and individual portfolios
• Management of specific asset class portfolios
• CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct

Who Can Join CFA?

Students who qualify ANY ONE of the following criteria can join CFA

• 16 years of education (in any field)
• Any recognized professional qualification e-g CA, ACCA or CIMA
• 4 years of experience (any work experience)
• 14 years of education and 2 years of work experience
• Persons with ACCA level II pass or in final year of bachelor can take up Level I of CFA Program
